An overview of the Midwest Upland Gundog Series™:
- In order to participate in a M.U.G.S. competition you must be a M.U.G.S. member
- Members are not charged “sanctioning fees” for their entry/entries
- We feature two Divisions of competition; Pointers and Flushers.
- There are five Events within each division:
Top Gun Main Event: (one canine competitor/one human competitor)
Doubles Main Event: (one canine competitor/two human competitors)
Masters Main Event: (one canine competitor/one human competitor 50 years of age and older)
Puppy Main Event: (one canine competitor that is 2 years of age or younger on January 1st of the year that the respective season starts/one human competitor)
Amateur Event: (one canine competitor/one human competitor). Neither eligible competitor can have won more than 4 qualifiers or 2 major championships, if one or both of these criteria is achieved, the competitor (s) is/are no longer eligible to compete as an amateur and must advance to compete in a “Main Event”
- Top Gun events will feature four bird sets
- Doubles Events will feature six bird sets
- Random sets will be utilized for each entry
- Chukar Partridge will be the bird species used for all competitions
- No running - in any Division, in any Event - at any time
- Awards and prizes will be distributed at the conclusion of all competitions
- Points will be tracked for all dogs and all competitors on an annual basis
- A High Point Dog award will be awarded to the dog in each Division (Pointer/Flusher). Each of these dogs and their owner will receive $1,500 at the Minnesota Series Championship held at the Caribou Gun Club March 7—9. Certain criteria must be met to be eligible for this award.
